Following the temporary closure of all international borders across the country, Ogun State federal lawmaker, Hon. Kolawole Lawal representating Egbado South / Ipokia Federal Constituency has enjoined those involved in trans-border and local business activities in the area to remain calm and relaxed as this temporary closure is for the benefit of all.
This was contained in a press statement made available to journalists by Hon. Kola Lawal yesterday in Abuja.
Ogun Federal legislator who acknowledged that the temporary closure would affect economic activities especially within Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency said he had been assured through telephone conversation with the Customs Controller in charge of Idiroko area and other relevant security agencies that a fruitful resolution would be reached which would bring mutual benefit to all, enhance security and promote good inter border relationship.
“While I beseech the good people of Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency to refrain from any acts of violence at this period, I equally appeal to the men of the Nigeria Customs Service and all task forces deployed to the border areas for the reason of the closure to allow commuters and local businesses to continue unhindered in relation to local agricultural and allied products” Hon. Kola Lawal added.
Recall that the Temporary Closure of Nigerian borders, most especially the ever-busy Seme border have elicited reactions from local and international travellers as well as business men and women who arrived at the Seme international border early morning of last Wednesday to discover that the Nigerian side of the border has been shut down.
There was no prior information on the closure, leaving many travellers stranded and unable to get to their destinations while the closure lasted.
