Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, the Deji of Akure Kingdom,  will on Thursday 27th September, 2018 proceed  on his annual Ulefunta leave.

This age long Akure annual festival / leave is expected to last for seven days beginning from Thursday 27th September till Wednesday 3rd October, 2018.

All markets, shops and stalls around the Deji’s Palace will remain closed for this  Period, however according to tradition Udiaagba market would remain open for business.  Beating of drums or any Musical instruments is usually not allowed in any part of Akure and it’s environs for the seven days period while all roads leading to the Deji’s Palace will be closed.

Our man in Akure Raymy Sanni said  Shops owners around the palace and Erekesan market has started making arrangements for space in adjacent Isolo and Udiaagba market.

According to High Chief Rotimi Olusanya, this is a special resting period for our father the Deji of Akure,  during this seven days period,  the Lisa or the next in rank would act on behalf of Deji,  hence the slogan Oteru Oba Ode,  it is the duty of all the chiefs to keep their quarters peaceful.

According to him Ulefunta rounds up all traditional festivals in the kingdom till March next year.
