We the PDP Leaders ,Local Government Executives, Ward Executives, All Elected Officials, the Senator, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly members who were duely elected on the platform of our great party and are represented by their Statutory aides in the two local governments of the entire Ijesa North, otherwise known as Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency met to review the letter of suspension and thereafter unanimously reject the unholy and clandestined suspension of Hon. Soji Adagunodo as Osun PDP Chairman by the National Working Committee of the party.
The PDP stakeholders in the federal constituency expressed this in a communique at a meeting of the constituency which took place at Ijebu-Jesa on Tuesday 5th May, 2020 and made available to newsmen.
We the constituents examined the issues raised in the letter of suspension alleging malfeasance, maladministration and anti-party activities and come to a conclusion that there was no iota of truth in the whole story and no justification whatsoever for his suspension other than mere hatred act of ingratitude to Hon. Adagunodo because since 2003 that he joined active politics, the local government and the federal constituency had always won all elections till date and it is very sad and disheartening that someone who has moved the party from the obscure position is now being treated with contempt and disdain.
Also on the allegation that some of his colleagues have written a petition against him, the leaders said they can make bold to say that it was a hoarse because, according to them, In the first instance, there have never been a petition and complaints from members of the state working committee, extended state executives, the elders caucus, stakeholders or any party members on his style of administration and these are the most senior organs of the party from the ward to the state level. The only petition that was ever written against him was the one that was sponsored by his detractors who lost in all the elections which was signed by two unknown non-party members and a new decampee which a committee from Abuja was sent to Osun to come and investigate and he cleared himself of all the allegations by also presenting the details of the finances of the party since he became the chairman of the party on March 27th, 2020 till the time of the investigation.
Secondly, there have never been a report from his ward, local government, Federal constituency or Senatorial district about any kind of anti-party activities or the other, in fact it is very odd that someone who won all elections is now being accused of anti-party activities by people who lost every election. Therefore the letter of suspension purportedly being served on Social media did not follow the due process and laid down procedures under the law of how our National Secretariat used to serve his principal officers at the state level and it has been considered as a calculated attempt to rubbish the personality of Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo and the entire constituency based on frivolities.
We are bold to say that Obokun /Oriade has contributed to the development of PDP more than many other federal constituencies where his detractors come from, having won all elections ever since Adagunodo joined the party and even since the inception of the Hon Soji Adagunodo-led administration.
We understand we believe that the National Working Committee may have been misled into taking this unfortunate decision and we are appealing to this highest organ of our great party to apply all necessary party machineries which the party constitution laid down to go into true and genuine and unbiased investigation treat the case in order reverse the decision in the interest of progress and stability of PDP in Osun state. We know unequivocally that some people will say our constituency is one out of nine, we may not have a coordinate affluence and power to face the people masterminding the ugly acts, but we have God, the ultimate decider of everything in life and He has never dissapointed us.
It’s religiously wrong for anybody to take a pound of flesh of misunderstandings with a single soul at the expense of thousands of PDP members across the state, the era of phantom processes of removing one from office has gone, we cannot accept a jungle justice because Nigeria is not a jungle country
There is a constitutional provisions that include reasons for Step aside/suspension and time limit for the dispensation of justice, any further delay may be inimical to the progress of the party, it is therefore necessary to say that in the struggle to reclaim our mandate to complete our term of 4 years, there will be no limit any extent that we can’t go to ensure that justice prevails.
We hope our position will be understood and favourably disposed to by those who are saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that we are not unjustly hurt as a people.
Thanks and God bless.
High Chief Dele Faseru,
Chairman and Convener,
Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency.
