“Our duties must be discharged with the utmost fear of God”- Health Commissioner
Niger State commissioner for Health, who was recently certified a strategic leadership principles and tools for family planning and reproductive health by John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Dr. Mustapha Jibril has on Tuesday quoted his boss, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Sani Bello saying”the Health sector is too important to be politicized in anyform”.
Dr. Jibril disclosed the stand of Mr. Governor while delivering his goodwill message at the 2018 Niger State Ministry of Health Development of Save One Million Lives Program for Results, SOML P4R Workplan Agenda at Suleja, Niger State, Nigeria.
The Commissioner who applauded the programme’s implementation technique for 2017 charged and enjoined the state coordinator of the program, Dr. Junaidu Inuwa for a more robust results “triple what we had in 2017 to sure-up our 6 intervention areas” the Commissioner stressed adding that “our duties must be discharged with the utmost fear of God”.
The 2 major objectives of the Niger State 2018 SOML P4R workplan development agenda include but not limited to 1. Deepen the technical capacity of programme officers for efficiency and effectiveness and 2. Develop 2018 workplan for the State.
The Commissioner disclosed that, the six key intervention areas for the 2018 workplan agenda are ;
1. Family Planning
3. Vitamin A supplement for children
4. Use of net by under-5 children to protect malaria
5. HIV testing and counselling at antenatal clinics
6. Skill Birth Attendants.
He then reassured the programme implementation team, partners and the health ministry of the unrelenting desire, approach of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello towards a bigger and better Health system in the state and country at large.
According to the Niger State coordinator of SOML P4R, Dr. Inuwa, the programme is a bold attempt to improve maternal and child health outcomes to mention but a few.
