The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ekiti State Chapter yesterday commended party members and delegates for a smooth and peaceful party primary election in most of the Local Governments, the party however postponed the Local Government primary elections in Ado local Government, Ekiti East and Ikole local government for alleged security concerns.
The party’s secretary Ade Ajayi in a in press release, said a new date would be communicated to all stakeholders soon.
Information around Ado Ekiti and Ikole Ekiti allegded that some of the aspirant on Friday were involve in financial inducement of delegates with amount ranging from ten thousand to twenty thousand Naira, while some of them in Omuo and Ado Ekiti came to the venue with political tugs yesterday
They accused the leadership of the party of being undemocratic, warning that they would resist any attempt to impose any candidate on the party.
Alhaji Gidado and Mrs Aluko, lamented that the leadership of the party were determined to impose a candidate.
But the party Spokesman described the allegations as a conjectural statement that lack content of validity in all its measure.
Mr Ajayi maintained that all aspirants will be given a level playing ground to participate in the exercise, noting that the election will be conducted in a transparent, free and fair manner without compromising the basic principle of internal democracy.
One of the delegates, Mr. Adeyeye Kayode said, “We don’t know why they are postponing the election. The candidates and delegates are here and everywhere are peaceful.”
A spoke person of Mrs. Omotunde Fajuyi’s group Mr. Tokunbo Ajayi expressed shock over the unruly behaviours of some of the candidates and their agents that led to the postphonment of the party primary election in Ado Ekiti.
“We should take the postponement as a sacrifice by all of us towards the safety of lives and properties”
He stressed further, “MF group however appeal strongly to the party leadership to put all that is needed in place towards our primary elections within the shortest time possible”
The group maintained that they were the only group that was properly organized, parley with all the wards, telling people what they will do differently and positively to develop the people, the environment and the name of Ado-Ekiti Local Government.
Tokunbo, stated further, “We were coasting home to a great victory of over 70%, through our committed delegates spread all over the wards.
While they were busy with blackmail, lies and name dropping, we were focused on the mission birthed by our vision!
MF has perfect understanding of the issues on hand, and she repeatedly taught us and kept us in check with her words of encouragement and positive energy!”
