Mrs. Oluwatoyin Akinwole in a tearful voice told the trial judge, Justice Mojisola Dada that Paul Adesanya who claimed to be an oil marketer and the Alfa, Awojobi Ganiu, claimed that the money was for special prayers and also part of an investment in an oil deal.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) a petition was received from Akinwole against Adesanya and his co defendant.
It was gathered that after Adesanya was granted administrative bail at the anti-graft office, he allegedly uploaded the nude pictures of Akinwole on social media and claimed that she jumped into the lagoon after the picture went viral.
She added that Adesanya and Ganiu lied to her that there was a vision that death was looming over her and that she had to do prayers to avert the bad incident.
Akinwole told court her story thus: “I was introduced to Adesanya by my friend, Sherifat who stays in Texas and Adesanya told me that he was into crude oil business and advised me to invest in that kind of business.
“I asked Adesanya to quickly invest the money in the business and when he felt that I did not trust him, he sent part of the money back to me and I called him and begged him that I will transfer it back but he told me to change to hard currencies and bring it personally to Nigeria;
“When I took the money to him at Ijebu-ode, he took me to Ganiu’s house for prayer and when we got there, they both went inside a room and later called me to join them in the room. When I got into the room, I saw two women and a girl in white attire and the women said I should open a pot at the corner of the room but I refused and this infuriated the women.
“They told Adesanya to talk to me and he said that there was no problem and that all they were doing was to allow the proposed business be successful. I left Nigeria for US and I told Adesanya that I would be expecting profit as he said and he said no problem.
“In October, I called Adesanya to ask him about the business but he told me that the money I sent was not enough and that I need to send money. He told me to send the money into alfa’s account and I transferred about N32m into alfa’s account in tranches.
“In December, I called Adesanya again to ask for the money and he told me not to worry. In January 2018, I called him and I started crying that my friends that borrowed me the monies were already asking for it.
“Two weeks after, Adesanya’s worker called me and told me that my money was not invested in any oil business and that Adesanya and Ganiu used my money to buy exotic cars and build houses and he told me to come to Nigeria to arrest them.
“When I EFCC arrested them and granted them administrative bail, he uploaded my nude picture on social media and claimed that I had jumped into the third mainland bridge. The defendants assassinated my character. My father even had a stroke aa a result of this, ” she said
The presiding judge, Justice Mojisola Dada, adjourned till December 19, 2018 for cross-examination and ordered that the defendants be remanded in the prison custody, after they were both arraigned.
