The former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala and his son Olamiju, has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akala is the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the March 9 governorship election.
Otunba Akala made the decision earlier today after his meeting with the APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Observers believed his return to the APC will dealt a big blow to the alliance he was leading with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other opposition parties against the governing party in Oyo state.
Prior to the election, Akala had vowed that all opposition parties would do anything to end the reins of the APC in Oyo state.
But the intervention of Tinubu and other national leaders made him change his mind.
The former governor left APC last October picked the governorship ticket of the ADP.
It is widely believed that the former Governor influenced the victory of the PDP in Ogbomoso Zone in the February 23 presidential election.
Meanwhile Olamiju, Alao-Akala, has been reinstated as Chairman of Ogbomoso North local government.
A top government official confirm to us that Olamiju collected his letter of reinstatement this evening from the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs.
He will resume office on Monday, the source added.
Olamiju was sacked and replaced following his defection with his father to ADP.
Following the return of Alao-Akala to the APC, the party will campaign in Ogbomoso on Monday.
We recalled that the party was unable to campaign in the town before last week presidential and National Assembly elections.
