Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the winner of Edo State Governorship election, Mr. Obaseki defeated Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to win a second term as the governor of Edo State.
Governor Obaseki was returned elected after polling the highest number of votes in the keenly-contested Governorship election of Saturday 19th September 2020
The Returning Officer declared Governor Obaseki as the winner on Sunday at the office of the Independent National electoral Commission INEC in Benin City.
Governor Obaseki secured 307,955 of the total votes, 84,336 more votes than his closest rival Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who scored a total of 223, 619 votes.
14 political parties fielded candidates for the election.
Meanwhile the APC candidate for EdoDecides 2020, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has accepted defeat as he congratulates Governor Godwin Obaseki and thanked the Edo people for the opportunity.
In his own speech Governor Obaseki thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing a free and fair Election and thanked the Edo people for believing in him.
