The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command has made a giant strides in anti smuggling and seizures of various contraband goods.
The command in the spirit of hardwork, generated a revenue of two billion, eight hundred and sixty one million, three hundred and forty two thousand, six hundred and ninety four naira only (N2, 861,342,694.00); in the first half of 2018
In the same vain, the command also made a total of 620 seizures with duty paid value (DPV) of four hundred and thirty two million, nine hundred and thirty thousand, five hundred and seventeen naira only (N432, 930,517.00) in same period.
Speaking on the huge achievement, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) Mohammed, Aliyu A said that the revenue generated was as a result of hardwork of custom officers who are committed to carrying out their statutory responsibilities and also a product of sustained compliance by stakeholders.
” Despite the daunting challenges we face here at the border, due to low importation through the land borders Seme command was still able to archive this laudable feat “he said.
Comptroller Aliyu reinstated his commitment in fighting smugglers and thier illegal activities, promises to make sure they are distroyed to the bearest minimum, as smuggling reduces the growth of our Nation’s Economy
According to him, the anti-smuggling unit is deploying new strategies to meet up with the dynamics of smuggling antics that is adopted by the economic saboteurs on daily basis either through approved or illegal routes.
He assured the general public that no matter the challenges and antics of these economic saboteurs, the command will not relent in performing her statutory responsibility .
