The peaceful protest of Niger Delta Militants at the Ondo state governors office, Alagbaka Akure today suddenly turned violent, when the police started shooting sporadically for over 30 minutes.
The Militants who identified themselves as ‘forest boys’ had locked down the governors’ office gate since the early hours of Monday, protesting the non payment of their amnesty entitlements, after they had submitted guns and ammunitions during the last amnesty program.
The protest however took a new turn at the close of the days work, when the police started shooting sporadically.
to scare the Militant off the to governors office gate, to allow civil servant inside go back homes after the official closing hours.
Many passersby and workers were seen running for safety while the shooting lasted.
