President Mohammadu Buhari has appointed AIG Abuabakar Adamu as the Acting Inspector General of Police.

He replaces Ibrahim Idris, who has attained the statutory retirement age of 60 years  in the force.

Until his new appointment, he was the head of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

The Nasarawa-born police chief has served with the United Nations and INTERPOL.

He was also former Deputy Commissioner of Police(DCP) in Ekiti State.

He was  Commissioner of Police in Enugu State and AIG ZONE 5
