The Social Democratic Party SDP in Ondo State has been divided in to two factions with each of the two factions coming up with a Governorship candidate.
One of the faction is headed by Hon. Tajudeen Adefioye Atenidecgbe a member of the Federal house of representative while the other is headed by Hon. Dele Ogunbameru.
The two groups had their Shadow Election on Friday at different locations in the State.

SDP Ondo State
Information reaching us has it that one Adekunle Saliu was yesterday 23rd July, picked as the SDP gubernatorial candidate for the October 10 governorship election in Ondo state. I want to unequivocally say that it is a laughable development.
The said Saliu has not shown interest to contest on the platform of the party; let alone obtain any form from the Social Democratic Party. The Ondo state SDP held her party primaries for the October 10 gubernatorial race yesterday at the party’s state secretariat in Akure. We could not have unwisely and unconventionally taken our primary election out of the state capital to hold such in another local government of the state. Such act amounts to a dastard conspiracy orchestrated with heineous intentions.
I therefore call on the entire members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and our good people of Ondo state to see such development as a political scam. The primaries concluded yesterday produced Prince Peter Oyeleye Fasua as the authentic gubernatorial candidate of the Ondo SDP in the coming election; as endorsed by all delegates as well as stakeholders of our great party and it was ably witnessed by the INEC, Press, and all required security agents.
I however call however call for calmness among all our members across Ondo state. Do not be misinformed. Do not be confused. Let us all put in our best to ensure victory in the coming race and rescue our dear state from the shackles of political and economic quagmire.
The leadership of the Social Democratic Party under the lead of Prince Oladele Olugbemi Ogunbameru is determined and resolute to position the party as a true progressive party in Ondo state according to the guidelines from the party’s National Headquarters and the provisions of the party constitution.
I also call on those misleading, misinforming and confusing our good people of Ondo state to desist from doing so. Stop this cruel pretence cum impersonation and let’s all work for the good of our party in Ondo state and Nigeria. We shall come out victorious.
Hon. Fasua Gbenga FGT.
