Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC),Ondo State command says it has arrested three students for examination malpractice during the ongoing Joint Admission Matriculation Board(JAMB) in the state.
Mr Pedro Awili, NSCDC state commandant, said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) on Wednesday in Akure.
Awili said that the three students were arrested at Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo town and Oyemekun Grammar school centre,Akure.
Awili said that it was only NSCDC that given mandate to deploy officer and men across the country to monitoring and supervisor credible examinations.
“In spite of the fact that command have able to educate students to shun examination malpractice,still some can not even write exam without cheating.
“So,in this jamb exam command has arrested three suspects include one female and two males, they are right now in our detection. And those being caught will not go unpunished while some of them will go to jail.
“And it will served as deterrent to other children who could not read their books and want to look for shorter way to pass exams,”he said.
According to him, member of public need to know that examination malpractice is a very serious crime to go and cheat in examination hall,saying students who going to write exams should write with their own knowledge.
The NSCDC boss, therefore, called on parents to advice their children to pay attention to their teachers and also read their books when it is time for examination.
“Some parents aid their children to use sort of machinery to pass exams by brings in a machinery to help their children write exams. We want to discourage that.
“Beside the monitoring, supervision and provide basic security in all jamb center, we are not loose sight on our mandate.
“On Friday we arrested two serious suspects who are involved in illegal dealing in petroleum products.a nursing mother and a man involving in a product adulteration buying of illegally refine product from river.
“The suspects were arrested by our men who are on surverlance at Igbokoda in Ilaje local government area with 480litres of AGO and 720litres of kerosene. ,”he noted.
He noted that the product had been vandalized from the NNPC/ SDPC right from the way and local refined within the creek and push out for marketing.
According to him, command will ensure diligent investigation by unravel details behind the suspects and discourage them from existing.
Awili, who said that the suspects would be charged to court soon vowed to continue to ensure that Ondo NSCDC actualise it’s mandate,saying there will no hiding place for any criminal in the state.(NAN)
