Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, of Lagos, and Aderemi Makanjuola, the chancellor of Edo state university, narrowly escaped attacked on Saturday at the house of Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a statement signed by special assistant on media to the governor Mr. Crusoe Osagie, , they all escaped uninjured.

The governor and the other guests had attended the maiden convocation ceremony of the Edo University, Iyahmo in Etsako west local government area of the state.

Oba of Lagos, the governor and other dignitaries had gone to Oshiomhole’s house to honour the former governor’s invitation for a lunch after the ceremony at the University.

Unexpectedly some thugs led by Romeo a relation of Comrade Adams Oshiomale started throwing stones at the Guests at the entrance of the house.

Several vehicles were reported to have been smashed before Obaseki’s security team’s intervention.

Reacting, Edo State Governor Obaseki, on Saturday, described the attack on him and other leaders at the residence of the APC National Chairman as unfortunate, saying his security can’t be guaranteed in our Chairman’s house.

The governor, Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, Edo Deputy Governor, Hon Philip Shaibu and other dignitaries were pelted with stones by some thugs at Oshiomhole’s Iyamho residence in Edo State.

The Governor restated that he would continue to pursue peaceful resolution of whatever disagreement that exists within the APC.

Addressing newsmen, the governor said: “It is really unfortunate that we can’t feel safe at the house of our national chairman.

“I am not sure that if I went to the house of the National Chairman of the People’s Democractic Party, they will attack me the way they did in the house of our chairman.

“It is really unfortunate that thing has degenerated to this extent but we will continue to pursue peace and we cannot afford to lose the gains of the last three years”.
