AWARD– OUTSTANDING AND MOS ACTIVE OPERATION OFFICER OF THE YEAR
Assistant Controller Yahaya Oladiran Idris (aka Irawo) attended Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, Erio-ekiti and became the Head Boy of the school in 1973.
In 1975, he was the Time keeper of CAC Modern School, Erio-Aramoko, Ekiti. Between 1976 -1981, he attended Ansar-ud-deen High School, Ikole-Ekiti where he was the class captain from Form 1-5, and during the period, he was a Rover Scouter.
He was the President of Religion Students Association (RESA) of Lagos State College of Education in 1985.
He is a graduate of History and a holder of a Masters degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University, Ojo.
A.C Yahaya Oladiran joined Nigeria Customs Service in January 1992 and attended his Basic Course in Customs Training School, Gorondutse, Kano between June 1992 – March 1993.
In 1993, he was posted to Seme Boarder Command where he made his mark.
He arrested a Peugeot 504 car that concealed 5,000 pieces of live ammunition in its engine, doors and false bottom at Seme Baggage when he was posted as a Ward Rummaging Officer.
He was presented with a plaque for outstanding performance, exceptional vigilance on Ammunition seizure on the 23rd February, 1996 by the then Customs Area Controller A. N. Angyu.
While in Ogun II excise Command in 1998, he led a team of officers that recovered/retrieved a G3-rifle seize at a check point along Sango – Abeokuta from the dreaded smuggler known as Aje from Idi- iroko in 0gun State.
Between 1st – 8th of July, 2004, 2004, A.C Yahaya Oladiran Idris, in company of other three (3) Customs officers attended a port state security Officers Course, Sponsored by the presidential Implementation Committee on Maritime Safety (PICOMSS) and this qualified him as one of the First Customs Port State Facility Security Control Officer (PSSCO) under the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code). He was also one of the first Customs Officers to attend anti-terrorism course sponsored by United State Department of State Security in 2005.
In the course of being a Customs PFSO in Apapa, he had contributed immensely to the policy formulation of the Federal Government through the federal Ministry of Transportation and Nigeria Port Authority on ports reforms such as:
(i) minimum Standard for vehicles to enter port
(ii) Security of the port and its environs
(iii) Decongestion of access roads at the port and its environs to mile 2- between 2005 and 2008
To his credit, he was elected the Vice Chairman of the Port Joint Security Committee (JSC) of all the security agencies at Apapa Area I Command from 2005 and 2008.
He is also the Director of discipline of the port Facility Security Officer Forum (PFSO).
On the 2nd June, 2005, AC yahaya O.I. Was posted to Custom Intelligence Unit Headquarters in Abuja and attended the Customs Intelligence Unit training course at Customs Training College, Ikeja and posted back to his duty post as the Customs PFSO and O/C Boarding and Rummaging. As the O/C Boarding and Rummaging, Apapa Command, he saved Nigeria from International embarrassment
In the course of his duties, this workaholic officer, a time keeper of repute has received many letters of commendations:
(i) United State Embassy letter for Excellence Customers Service dated 16th October, 2006
(ii) Letter of Commendation from the United Nations Commission for Refugees UNHCR dated 16th October, 2006.
(iii) Letter of Commendation from the Nigeria Port Authority dated 7th August, 2007 “For his prompt timely decisive decision averted what would have been a monumental disaster that would have resulted in the sinking of a vessel, MV Miami Maiden laden with 32,800 Metric tons of Raw Sugar belonging to Dangote groups which rammed into the ramp stand at berth 20, Apapa Port with all the adverse consequences of loss of safe port status and National Pride”.
(iV) Also letter of appreciation from the Nigeria Customs Licensed ship chandlers Association dated 3rd August, 2007 in ensuring that illegal operators are discouraged from practicing the profession.
(v) He was presented with a plaque by the Joint Security Committee under Nigeria Port Authority in 2009 for his outstanding contributed to the security of Apapa port.
(Vi) He is a member of Port Working Committee
A.C Yahaya, Oladiran is the first Customs Officer to be actively involved in Aerial Surveillance of Western Port Navigable Water and its environs with other security agencies in order to deter the activities of pirates at Lagos Pilotage.
He is presently the Officer in Charge of Custom Joint Examination Centre that comprises all government agencies on Ease of Doing Business and OC Operations, Enforcement Unit, Apapa Area Command, Apapa Wharf.
He is married with children.
CSC OKPABI JACK ..SMUGGLERS NIGHT MARE
AWARD= BEST ANTI. SMUGGLING OFFICER OF THE YEAR 2017 ROVING TEAM OF THE FEDERAL OPERATION UNIT ZONE A IKEJA
A complete gentleman with unquenchable thirst for Economic Growth, a Man whose success is built on probity and transparency is no other person than our distinguish awardee, CSC OKPABI JACK.
The Benue State Born Officer is currently the Head, Lagos Roving Team of the federal operation unit, Zone “A” of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ikeja. This amiable officer and smugglers nightmare has recorded many seizures in the last five months and has promised to make more seizure before the year runs out.
Before coming to F.O.U Zone ‘A’ Ikeja, CSC Okpabi Jack had served in many Customs formation in different capacity which includes Seme Command, Apapa Command, Bauchi, Onitsha, Katsina/Kaduna Area Command, Kirikiri Lither Terminal (KLT) and Federal Operations unit, Zone ‘C’ Owerri.
CSC Okpabi Jack, boasts of LLB (Law) which he obtained from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in 1986 and Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration which he got from Lagos State University (LASU) in 2017. He was born 1966 and got enlisted into the Nigeria Customs Service in 1990.
A successful Living Legend who is much dedicated to Customs than anything else. He is a loving Family Man, a dedicated Husband and a caring Father.
