Alhaji Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari has tested positive for Coronavirus. President Buhari tested negative, according to Arise TV.
Kyari who returned from Germany on March 14 did not self isolate as NCDC directed and attended a meeting on Sunday in Aso rock where he began to cough repeatedly and thereafter surrendered himself for testing. He has now gone into self isolation for treatment.
Also Mukhtar Gidado the Senior Special Assistant on Media, to the Governor of Bauchi State, announced in a statement on Monday that Gov. Bala Mohammed has gone into isolation.
According to him, Governor Mohammed took the decision after his contact with the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was confirmed to have been infected by the virus.
“This development is sequel to the report from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) that the son of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Mohammed Atiku Abubakar was tested positive to coronavirus upon his return from an international trip through Lagos,” Gidado revealed.
Meanwhile Governors who shook hands with Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State Governor, at the Nigeria Governors Forum Meeting in Abuja last Wednesday have reportedly been panicking after it emerged the governor had contact with Atiku Abubakar’s son, who has been found to have the dreaded COVID-19.
Several governors and deputy governors also attended the meeting, chaired by Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.
Asishana Okauru, Director-General of NGF, and Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, head of media and public affairs, were also present.
The following day, the Bauchi governor was also at the breakfast meeting the governors had with the World Bank at Fraser Suites, located at the central business district Abuja.
He was also present at the National Economic Council (NEC) presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
