Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Friday advised the newly inaugurated Local Government Chairmen to align their development agenda with the aspirations of the people for their co-operation and partnership.
Akeredolu gave the advice in Akure during the inauguration of the newly appointed Interim Caretaker Committee Chairmen of the 18 Local Government Councils in the state.
He further urged the chairmen to always put the people at the center of their actions and activities.
The governor congratulated the chairmen, and said they had been appointed to oversee the council for the next six months.
Akeredolu explained that his administration would conduct the council election after the expiration of the six months period.
“It would be recalled that we were set to organise an election at the Local Government level this year but in view of the fact that INEC was unable to provide the updated version of the voters register despite the continued requests for it by the state election body, the exercise had to be put on hold,” he said.
Responding, Mr Augustine Oloruntogbe, Chairman, Akoko South West, thanked the governor for the privilege extended to them to serve the people.
He promised not to disappoint the governor and the people, and to always put the people in mind while executing any project to gain the cooperation of the people. (NAN)
